CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting

The CIMA certificate in business accounting is CIMA's own entry route to the CIMA professional qualification. You may be exempt from some or all certificate papers if you have a relevant degree or have studied another professional accounting qualification.

The Certificate in Business Accounting comprises four modules:

  • BA1 - Fundamentals of Business Economics
  • BA2 - Fundamentals of Management Accounting
  • BA3 - Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
  • BA4 - Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law

You can take the four certificate subjects in any order and in any combination to suit your requirements. Exams are available on demand, all year round.

CIMA Professional Qualification

The CIMA Professional Qualification syllabus is regularly updated in line with the challenges and opportunities presented by a constantly evolving marketplace and the changing needs of business.

There are three distinct levels within the CIMA Professional Qualification: operational, management and strategic, each containing three objective tests and a case study exam. Each level is progressive and will deliver skills relative to that level. On completion of the operational level, students are awarded with the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting and on completion of the management level, students gain the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting. When the strategic level has been completed alongside 3 years relevant practical experience, the student will be admitted to membership and gain the CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) designation.
